If you are travelling between Hobart and Strahan, Hamlet Downs is the perfect stopover before proceeding. Relax, have a great meal using our own produce, enjoy a walk here or at the Russell Falls in the Mount Field National Park, or have a relaxing drink at the cafe next to the Tyenna River. Want some adventure, try the Maydena Adventure Hub or the Jet Boat on the Derwent River.
Hamlet Downs offers four guest bedrooms:
Possum – king sized bed with ensuite and foldout bed optional
Bandicoot – queen sized bed with ensuite
Platypus – queen sized bed and private bathroom facilities
Potaroo – 2 single beds with private bathroom facilities
A cot is available on request at extra cost.
Each suite has its own private lounge/dining area. There are no shared internal facilities so clients may enjoy a private stay. The facility is fully heated, with either a fireplace or electric heaters. There is also a full kitchen in the self contained facility and a kitchenette in the King room (cook top, small oven, toaster & microwave). The Self Contained comprises the Platypus, Bandicoot and Potaroo rooms so if any are booked the others are closed to ensure privacy.
Coffee and tea making facilities, hairdryers, CD player, radios and television are also provided. A laundry is also available with use of machines at extra cost.
Light provisions or a fully cooked breakfast is available at extra cost as well as dinner, which ranges from light meals to a full 3 course banquet. We use our own home-grown seasonal produce for meals including free range eggs when available. If you're interested, we can provide Greek meals or even a Greek Feast with prior arrangements.

1 bedroom with queen bed and ensuite bathroom. 1 bedroom with a queen bed and the other bedroom with 2 singles. These 2 rooms share a private bathroom. Lovely views to the gardens.
Note that this incorporates the rooms listed as Bandicoot, Platypus & Potaroo . Therefore those rooms can not be booked at the same time as the self contained facility.

A lovely sunny room with its own entrance, King sized bed (or 2 singles)and an ensuite bathroom with 3/4 bath. A foldout sofa bed is also provided. A sunroom/dining area exclusive to this room is also included with great views to the ponds and gardens. It also has a kitchenette with hotplates, small pizza/grill/baking oven, a microwave, toaster and kettle. Essential cooking utensils and crockery/cutlery provided.
Extra Child (4-14 years) $25 per night. Extra adult $40 per night.

Things to do:
It is a must to explore our diverse and unique local area whilst here. We are just 10 minutes drive from the gates of Mt Field National Park and also perfectly located for day trips to Maydena, South West National Park, Lake Pedder and the Central Lakes district. We are also close to the historic towns of Hamilton, Bothwell (golf museum and oldest golf course in Australia) and New Norfolk.
Mt Field is renowned for Russell Falls and its many wonderful walks. Lake Pedder is a beautiful 90 minute drive away and will take you through the town of Maydena, which is renowned for Junee Cave, and the Styx Valley, its stands of forests having the largest hardwood trees in the world. Other attractions in our general area are the New Norfolk Jet Boat Rides, and nearby Salmon Ponds, which are 25 minutes drive away from Hamlet Downs.
