checked out at 10pm, impossible The information said: "Twin Room (bunk bed or 2 single beds) basic room great for the budget traveller. Please note twin rooms do not have TV or tea and coffee facilities." It failed to mention that there is absolutely no furniture other than double bunk, lockable cabinet and one overhead light globe. I had to go out and speak to screaming neighbours at about 8pm - room within 30 metres of front desk and I had been told their was a night manager (by smiling day staff, who handed me a sheet and a towel), but no one responded to 10 minutes of violent screaming. Walk to toilet; thus different from a police lockup - where the screaming may have gotten some response. Smokers outside my window in the car park... I needed somewhere to sleep mid-travel, this was not the place to feel comfortable and rest. Ratings

Good Location however.... The Sydney Beachouse YHA is situated at Collaroy Beach, nearly an hour from the centre of Sydney. The beach is only a very short walk away, with a number of cheap to expensive restaurants nearby. There is a small grocery shop nearby with most needs, and an excellent coffee shop and bakery right at the door step. The Beachouse staff are very friendly and helpful with directions or just a friendly chat about local venues etc. Our only gripe is that the rooms needs a good makeover and at least a decent clean. The showers were grubby with mould, bedding looked like it been around since Adam was a small boy and for an area prone to flies and mosquitoes, there were no screens on the windows, making it very hot and stuffy at night. If you don't mind those kinds of things, the Beachouse is a good starting point to explore the joys of Sydney. Ratings
