Quaint but needs work On the edge of the CBD, this is close to everything & with underground guest parking, it's very convenient, but don't expect 5 stars - it's pretty basic. There's the normal facilities, but it's just a room & a small-ish bathroom probably renovated 10 years or more ago. It's clean, tidy & certainly compact, more reminiscent of a motel than a hotel. Cost is good for location, but 1 downside is noisy groups. I had several young students who persisted in calling out & banging on doors late into the night & young teens running up & down corridors (where were the parents!?). That, a rattly window & rickety venetian blinds didn't help! Ratings

Pleasant stay in Hobart Despite the atrocious weather for which I have not found anyone to blame, yet; we had a great stay at the Macquarie Leisure Inn. Once they get their pre-historic lifts upgraded (by the end of the year - I was told), it all should be dinky-dory. The service is pleasant and personal. The hotel is very conveniently located to the City and the waterfront with Salamanca Place just round the corner. The location is one of our main reasons to come back here. Ratings

Great location, worth the cheap price I read plenty of poor reviews about this hotel after booking and got a little nervous. Don't believe all of the negative reviews; there must've been a change in management or these people had a bad night. I was there two days, and both people at the front desk answered every question I had -- from airport transportation to where to get a good bite to eat in Hobart. The rooms are modern and clearly renovated. I had no problem with traffic sounds, but I wasn't on the street side. The TV is wonderful, the appliances are great as well. My only complaint is how small the bathroom is, and the lift seems like it needs a little repairing, but those are both nothing considering what I paid. Ratings
