Clarendon Guest House, Katoomba, Blue Mountains

The hotel is a little jaded in appearance, but the room was clean, and comfortable. Breakfast was excellent, hot breakfasts are cooked to order, and there is an extensive choice of cereals, fruit etc etc. Overall, the Clarendon represents excellent value for money...and is well situated as a base from which to explore the Blue Mountains area.

disappointing

We booked a guesthouse room the night before our intended stay and arrived to find we'd been relegated to a motel-style room - same rate and adequate accommodation for one night but certainly not the cosy older-style room we were hoping for. We were told by the very apologetic young man on reception that the Clarendon was fully booked - understandable on the June long weekend. But that the two room-types were interchangeable should have been made clear at the time of booking or at least before our arrival. Fortunately we were able to make other arrangements and a refund (less booking fee etc) was given but we were left very disappointed.
