The Duke of Marlborough Hotel holds the first license issued in 1840. The property sits right on the waterfront facing the beautiful Bay of Islands. The hotel has been recently refurbished and boasts 6 luxury waterfront suites and 19 well appointed rooms overlooking the town.

The Duke has always been reputed for its food, offered at either its formal dining room or more casually at the lounge. A weatherproofed verandah along the beach allows patrons to dine or drink all year by the sea.
